Nepali License Plate Recognition Using YOLOv8 and CNN on Raspberry Pi for Automated Parking Access Control
Principal Researcher: Er. Hemant JoshiWe are delighted to congratulate Er. Hemant Joshi, HOD, Department of Computer Engineering; Er. Saroj Gautam, Lecturer and 3rd & 4th Year Coordinator; and our 2021 Batch Computer Engineering students — Janak Bikram Rana Magar, Khushbu Kumari Chaudhary, Diyamand Bohara, and Sonam Babu Bishwakarma on the publication of their research article: “Nepali License Plate Recognition Using YOLOv8 and CNN on Raspberry Pi for Automated Parking Access Control.” The research presents an AI-powered Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system designed for automated parking access control using YOLOv8, CNN, and Raspberry Pi. The study demonstrates promising results in Nepali license plate detection and character recognition, with practical implementation for automated gate control in resource-constrained environments. This work highlights the innovative potential of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, and Edge Computing in addressing real-world transportation and parking management challenges in Nepal. Heartfelt congratulations to all the authors on this remarkable research achievement! We wish them continued success in research, innovation, and technological advancement.
